Patrick takes on the Dublin City Marathon for Comfort for Chemo
After losing his beautiful wife Linda to cancer in October 2020, Patrick Eviston decided to fundraise in her memory by running marathons for charities who helped people living with cancer.
With three marathons under his belt, Patrick is turning his attention to the Dublin City Marathon as he continues to raise money in memory of his beautiful wife Linda.
To date Patrick has completed a marathon in Killarney which he ran with his son Erik and with the support of his daughter Alannah on Linda’s first anniversary on October 10th 2021 .
He raised almost €50,000 for the Irish Cancer Society, specifically, the palliative care night nursing service for families, caring for their loved ones at home and also supporting clinical trials for new cancer treatments.
On a trip to visit family in Canada in March, Patrick ran the Vancover Marathon and raised money for cancer charities in the area.
In June of this year Patrick and his running companion and friend Marchin took on the Cork City Marathon in aid of the Kerry Cancer Support Group raising €17,617.16.
This time Patrick has chosen Comfort for Chemo as his charity and is running the Dublin City Marathon to help those who are currently going through Chermotherapy.
“I am running this marathon on behalf of our brave and beautiful Linda who passed away on October 10th, 2020. Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 whereupon she underwent surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. Despite some serious setbacks, Linda returned to good health, but sadly the cancer returned in 2015 and we were told that it was terminal. Linda continued to live a full life and care for her family until passing on the 10th of October 2020″.
